Mix jello into hot water in a 9x13 GLASS baking pan.
Place in refrigerator to chill. DO NOT ALLOW TO SET COMPLETELY. (If it does set, microwave entire pan for 25 seconds to loosen)

Drain pineapple, reserving liquid into measuring cup. Add water to make 1 cup if necessary.
When jello is cooled add crushed pineapple, marshmallows and bananas into jello, stirring pineapple slightly to separate. Place jello mixture into refrigerator and do not use topping until jello is set completely.

Mix sugar, pineapple juice, egg and sugar in sauce pan and cook, stirring constantly until it becomes about the consistency of peanut butter. Mixture will thicken slightly more when cooled.
Cool mixture completely. When cooled, gently fold in dream whip mixture. Use this as a topping for the jello. Sprinkle top with cheddar cheese. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
