Boil the water. Squeeze juice from orange into measuring cup and fill cup with boiling water to equal 1 cup. Beat the egg.

Grind or grate orange peel and add enough raisins and/or dates to equal 1 cup; grind again. Put mixture into bowl.

|
|
Combine liquids and stir in dry ingredients. Grease the loaf pan and add mixture.
|
|
|
Bake at 350 for about 50 minutes. Cool before slicing.
