Rinse cranberries and sort through for smushy ones
Bring sugar, water, cloves, allspice, and cinnamon sticks to boil. Cook, stirring until syrup is clear (about 3 minutes).
Add cranberries and cook until they begin to pop (about 5 minutes)
Remove from heat, add orange zest, and cool.
Can be made 3 days in advance to intensify flavors.
Freezes well.
I always make a double recipe of this and freeze 1/2 (1/2 for Thanksgiving, 1/2 for Christmas)
