     Ginger Snaps

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1 tsp each baking soda, ginger, cinnamon (ground)
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 cup sugar
 

Instructions
In large mixing bowl place 1/2 of the flour Add brown sugar, shortening, mosasses, egg, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Beat with electric mixer on medium to high speed until thoroughly combined, scraping sides of bowl. Beat in remaining flour.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll the balls in sugar to coat. Place balls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in a 375 degree pre-heated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or till edges are set and tops are crackled. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute. Remove cookies and cool on wire rack. Makes about 48 cookies.
