     German Potato Salad

Ingredients
3 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 pound of bacon, chopped and fried; keep grease
1 small onion, chopped small
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup vinegar
1 Tablespoon sugar [may need more to taste]
 

Instructions
Boil potatoes and let cool; chop into cubes. Cook bacon, chopped, pat dry, and cool. Add to potatoes.
Add vinegar and sugar to pan with bacon grease and cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved and misture thickens. May need to add additional bacon grease, sugar, and/or vinegar to taste. Cook until slightly thick.
Pour over potato mixture. Will keep at room temperature.
