     New Orleans Bread Pudding w/ Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients
1 loaf french bread
1 quart milk
3 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoonfuls vanilla
1 cup currants- or small raisins
3 tablespoonfuls melted butter
 
Sauce-
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 stick butter
1 egg beaten
2 ounces bourbon
1-2 tablespoonfuls cream

Instructions
Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Soak cut up bread in milk until completely soaked thoroughly. Add eggs, sugar, vanilla and raisins. Stir well.
Pour butter in bottom of heavy 9 x 14 inch baking pan. Add bread mixture and bake until firm and golden 40- 60 minutes. Cool.
Suace- Cream butter and sugar in double boiler until dissolved. Add egg and whip fast so it doesn't curdle and add whiskey. Add cream to thicken. Serve warm over pudding.
