     JoAnn's Apple Pie

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Dash of salt
8 cups of granny smith apples peeled and sliced (about 8/9 apples)
1 1/4 cup flour
1 1/12 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter

Cinnamon to taste

Instructions
Heat oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, mix 3/4 cup sugar, the flour cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Stir in apples. Spoon into pastry-lined pie plate.
To make crumb topping, using a pastry blender mix together 1 1/4 cup flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon to taste. Sprinkle on over the apples, gently pack it down. Wrap a strip of foil onto the outside of the pie to prevent the outside of the crust from burning. Bake pie on top of a cookie sheet, as the joices will run out.
Bake about 40-50 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
Note- If putting a top crust on, put butter on top of apples. Make sure you have cuts in the top crust so steam can get out.
