With electric mixer, beat buttermilk, egg and sugar together. Sift 3 cups of flour with baking powder, soda and salt. Add 2/3 of the flour mixture to the buttermilk mixture and stir well. Gradually add melted butter, stirring well; add remaining flour mixture. Add raisins and a bit more flour if needed. Knead dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes. Cut dough into 3 parts. Form each into a circle and cut into 4 equal quarters. Buter a cookie shet. Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
