     Fudge Cake

Ingredients
2 1/4 c flour
1 t soda
1/3 c hot water
1 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1 c milk
1 1/2 c shortning
2 eggs
1 1/2 c sugar
 
1 t vanilla
1/2 c cocoa

Instructions
Sift flour once, then measure and mix with soda, baking powder and salt. Sift again.
Cream shortning, add sugar gradually beating after each addition. Add vanilla, then well beaten eggs. Beat until fluffy.
Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk. Mix cocoa and hot water to form a smooth paste, beat into batter.
Pour into 3 small or 2 large pans. Bake in 350 degree oven 30 to 35 mins. Cool, spread with any chocolate icing.
