2 1/2 c sugar

4 egg yolks
|

4 T flour

butter the size of an egg

1 T vanilla

pinch of salt

2 1/2 c milk

8 or 9 inch baked pie shell

4 egg whites, beaten to top pie with if desired
|

Instructions |
|
|
Brown 1/2 c sugar and add to the other ingredients.
Have both mixtures at boiling point when mixed
Cook until thick.
|

Remove from heat and beat until cold.
|
|
|
Top with beaten egg whites, if desired and place back into oven to brown top.
|
