     Caramel Pie - 2 pies

Ingredients
2 1/2 c sugar
4 egg yolks
4 T flour
butter the size of an egg
1 T vanilla
pinch of salt
2 1/2 c milk
8 or 9 inch baked pie shell
 
4 egg whites, beaten to top pie with if desired

Instructions
Brown 1/2 c sugar and add to the other ingredients. Have both mixtures at boiling point when mixed Cook until thick.
Remove from heat and beat until cold.
Top with beaten egg whites, if desired and place back into oven to brown top.
