Bring ½ cup of water to a boil. Then add 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of white syrup. Stir until dissolved and boil until it will spin a thread. (Hard Ball – 260 degrees Fahrenheit)
Add peanuts and cook until golden brown. Remove from fire and add butter and vanilla. Stir until butter melts.
Add soda and stir quickly just enough to mix soda in. Do not overstir or peanut brittle will be sticky. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet. Let cool then break into pieces
