Ingredients
1 lb. butter
4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 - 1 c ice water
3 eggs
2 c sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp almond extract
 
1 lb almond paste

Instructions
Filling- Cream together eggs, sugar, lemon juice, almond extract and almond paste.
Cut one cup butter into flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in water. Shape into a ball then a rectangle. Quarter remaining butter. Keep dough chilled until filling is prepared. Roll and cut into 8 - 15x4 strips. Spread with reserved butter. Top with equal amounts of filling. Fold ends in and roll. Chill 30-60 minutes. Brush with beaten egg white, slit tops.
Bake in oven heated to 450 degrees on bottom rack of 10-15 minutes. Reduce to 415 degrees and bake on top rack 15-2 minutes. 30 total is best.
