1 Bay leaf, 2 C swiss cheese - shredded, 1 Load French Bread
Instructions
Add onions to butter, oil, sugar and slowly brown approx. 25 - 30 minutes. Make sure to stir frequently.
Add flour, mustard, garlic, and cook approx. 3 minutes.
Add sherry and stir just short of boiling.
Add remaining ingredients.
Bring to a soft boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
Refrigerate overnite to mellow.
Reheat.
Roast French bread rounds and place on top of soup, cover with shredded swiss cheese and broil until very light golden brown on top.
