Butter Pound Cake Makes 1 bundt pan, 3 loaf pans or 6 mini loaf pans Sift together- 3 cups plain flour / ½ teaspoon baking powder / ½ teaspoon baking soda / ¾ teaspoon salt Cream together- 1 cup softened butter or shortening / 2 cups sugar / 4 eggs Add flour mixture alternately with 1 cup buttermilk ending with flour mixture. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon butter extract. Bake at 350 for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean. If using loaf pans start checking for doneness at about 40-45 min.
Cake Topping Combine in sauce pan- ½ cup sugar / ¼ cup buttermilk / 1 tablespoon butter / 1 teaspoon vanilla / ¼ teaspoon soda bring to simmer and cook for 2 minutes and pour over cake.
