In a large bowl combine butter or shortening, salt and sugar. Pour boiling water over. Put yeast and 1 t sugar over 1/2 c warm water, about 105-115 degress. Let that rest 5 minutes. To the mix in the large bowl, add flour, eggs, yeast and 1 c cold water. Mix. Refrigerate 5 hours or overnight. 1 1/2 hours before serving, divide dough into 4ths. Roll out in a circle, spread with butter. Use a pizza cutter and cut each into 16 pieces. Roll up like crescent rolls. Place on a greased cookie sheet and let rise for about 1 hour before baking. Bake at 375 for about 15-20 minutes.
