Thinly slice cukes and place in canning jars. Pack full. You may use onions with the cukes, alternating layers of cukes and onions, beginning and ending with cucumbers.
Prepare the syrup by mixing all other ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil and boil for 6 full minutes. Pour over the cukes and quickly seal the jars.
Be careful - jars will be very hot. Let them sit on your counter untouched until completely cooled. I don't touch them for at least 24 hours.
