Melt butter in 8" square pan,
Sift flour, salt and sugar.
Add grated cheese.
Add milk and mix to a dough with a knife.
Knead lightly. Roll dough a little larger than pan. Cut dough into slices 1 1/2 " x 4".
Slit each slice lengthways twice to within 1/2} of top. Plait slices.
Coat slices in melted butter by dipping and rolling in the pan of butter, arranging them side by side.
Bake 12 - 15 minutes in very hot oven.

Serve hot. Can be served with jam & cream or plain
