     Toppings for buttermilk fresh cheese Spiced Figs

Ingredients
1/2 cup bold red wine, such as a Syrah or Melbec
2 ounces dried Mission figs
2 Tbspns honey
1/8 tsp nutmeg or mace
1 bay leaf
 

Instructions
Bring ingredients to simmer in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer and cook until liquid is reduced by three fourths and syrupy, about 10 minutes.
Cool to room temp;erature, discard bay leaf. To serve, spoon figs and syrup over a round of Buttermilk Fresh Cheese.
