Melt butter in 10-inch skilled over medium heat. Cook onion in butter about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until tender. Stir in whipping cream; 2 tablespoons cheese, 1 teaspoon of the nutmeg, the salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered about 30 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened.
