1.5 lbs. ground beef (season w montreal steak and hot sauce)
1 sliced red onion
1 tablesoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
6 oz blue cheese
fresh basil leaves (nice handful)
1/4 c hellmans real mayo
several splashes of hot sauce (more or less to taste)
whole grain buns
Instructions
Begin by caramelizing the red onion with butter and brown sugar-cook low and slow for 20 to 30 minutes. Mix together meat and seasonings. Grill burgers to desired doneness.
While grilling, mix together mayo and hot sauce until spicy enough to your taste. Top burgers with blue cheese in the last minute of grilling just to warm and slightly begin to melt.
Warm or slightly toast buns, spread both sides w/ mayo and layer- bottom bun, blue cheese topped burger, caramelized onions, 3-4 basil leaves and top with other spicy mayo slathered bun...delicious!!!!
