     Ohagi (Botamochi)

Ingredients
For Rice Balls-
1 C glutinous rice (mochi gome)
1/2 C regular Japanese rice
1 1/3 C water
For Topping-
1/4 lb. azuki beans
1/4 C sugar
salt to taste
3 T. black sesame
 
1 T. sugar

Instructions
Make steamed rice. Mash hot steamed rice with wooden pestle. Makes 12-16 rice balls. Cover rice balls either with sweet bean paste or sweet sesame powder.
Wash azuki beans and put them in a pan. Fill the pan with water and bring to a boil. Drain azuki beans and again put them back in the pan. Add 2 cups of water in the pan and simmer in low heat for one hour. Add sugar and a pinch of salt in azuki beans and simmer until the liquid is gone. Grind sesame in a mortar and add sugar.
