     Buttermilk Cornbread

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup yellow corn meal
1 Tsp salt
3/4 Tsp baking soda
2 eggs separated
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 Tbs melted shortening
 

Instructions
Beat egg yolks well and add buttermilk and mix. Add to dry mix. Add shortening and stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake at 475 degrees for 22 minutes.
