     White Lily Buttermilk Biscuits

Category   Breakfast - Brunch
Sub Category   None
Preptime   10 minutes

Ingredients
3 cups self rising White Lilly flour
1/2 cup Crisco solid shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 Tbsp melted butter

Instructions
Sift flour into large bowl.
Place shortening in middle of flour and blend with fork or pastry blender until mixture becomes crumbly.
Add 1/2 cup butter and mix with fork just until mixture combines (add remaining buttermilk if needed to incorporate all flour) Do not overmix (biscuits will not be as light and fluffy if worked too much)
On lightly floured board shape into oval and press to 1 inch thickness. Cut with round cutter (I prefer a small cutter) Place biscuits on lightly greased cast iron skillet or skillet sprayed with Pam. Bake in preheated 450 degree oven until biscuits are brown (10-15 minutes) Brush tops of hot biscuits with melted butter.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with favorite jams, jellies, honey or gravies.
