Ingredients
1 cup shortening(part butter or margarine)
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups Gold Medal Flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp .salt
2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
 

Instructions
Whenever my Mom asked my sister and I if we wanted to have Snickerdoodles it was an automatic yes. We usually only had them once or twice a month which made you have that desire and hunger to always have them. Watching my mom stir all the ingredients together, asking her for some cookie dough as an appetizer before the delicious dessert. Watching as the perfectly round cookie dough balls are surrounded by a sea of cinnamon. The anxiety that you would feel when the smell would spread in the rooms from them baking in the oven. Then finally she opened up the oven and you were already ready with a glass of milk and ready to indulge in a taste of heaven. To get that taste of heaven all you need to do is follow some of these steps.
Heat oven to 400 º (moderately hot). Mix shortening, 1 ½ cups sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Blend flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt; stir in. Shape dough in 1” balls. Roll in mixture of 2 tbsp. sugar and cinnamon. Place 2” apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out. This recipe makes 6 dozen cookies.
Note- if you use Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour, omit cream of tartar, soda, and salt.
