Ingredients
quick grits -- any brand
water
salt
butter
 

Instructions
Follow the directions on the package to make grits using their suggested proportions.
After then cook covered for 5 minutes, uncover and stir. Continue to cook and stir for at least 15 more minutes slowly adding water (about 2 TBSP at a time). Keep stirring and adding water. This will make them more creamy.
Remember, salt and butter are to taste. You can add as much as you want. You can even add a small amount of cream if you want. For cheese grits, add shredded cheddar cheese to taste after the grits are at the consistency you like.
I usually cook about half of the proportion suggested on the package when I am serving grits as a side dish with bacon and eggs.
