     Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts

Category   Appetizers
Sub Category   None
Servings   30

Ingredients
1 lb. thinly sliced bacon
1/3 – 1/2 cup Soy sauce
8 oz. can whole water chestnuts, drained

Instructions
Microwave bacon, in package, on high for 1 minute or until slices separate easily. Line a paper plate with paper towels & layer bacon – 8 slices per plate, in 2 layers. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes (you want them soft enough to wrap around the water chestnuts) and cut each piece in half. Wrap each water chestnut in one half piece of bacon. Secure with a toothpick and place in a closed container (Aunt Mary uses a plastic bag). Pour soy sauce over water chestnuts and marinate for 2 - 4 hours, turning occasionally. Remove water chestnuts from sauce and arrange in a single layer on a paper towel lined plate. Microwave on high for 3 - 4 minutes.
Sauce- Combine 1/2 cup dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup catsup; heat to desired consistency. Drizzle over the top or just dip & enjoy.
