Bring chicken to boil with vegetables, garlic, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 30 minutes. Remove chicken from pot to cool, then remove skin and debone.
Measure 4 cups of broth from boiled chicken. Freeze remainder for another use. Add chicken back into broth. Bring back to a boil. Adjust seasoning and reduce heat to low.
Make dumpling recipe. Drop by spoonfuls onto broth. After a few minutes turn dumplings over. Cover and let gently simmer for 15 minutes without removing lid.
