Brush salmon steaks well with butter on both sides. Sprinkle both sides of fish with marjoram and salt and pepper to taste.
On oiled rack 4 inches from heat source, broil steaks until first side is lightly browned (5 to 8 minutes). Baste with butter, turn, baste again, and broil 5-8 minutes longer or until fish flakes easily when prodded with a fork.
