In large size saute pan (nonstick works well) heat oil or butter over med-high heat and cook until onions are brown slightly and turn translucent about 5 minutes. Stir in sugar and salt and continue cooking until onions are brown and sweet . This may take 15 -30 minutes depending how you prefer them. Stir occasionally. Stir in chard , olives, and capers , and cook until chard is wilted , 5-7 minutes . Season with black pepper and squeeze lemon over top.
