Melt butter. Add sugars. Stir to mix all. Set aside and let cool slightly. While cooling, sift flour with baking powder and salt.
Add eggs to sugar mixture, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Add flour, beating until mixed well. Add vanilla, mixing until blended. Add chocolate chips, mixing just until blended.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. May need to add time in 5 minute increments until baked through and toothpick in center comes out clean.
