Ingredients
8oz self raising
1.5 oz caster sugar
a pinch of salt
3 oz butter at room temperature
2 oz sultanas/ raisins
1 egg (beaten)
 

Instructions
sift flower and salt in bowl and sprinkle in sugar,then rub in the butter into a crumbly mixture.Now sprinkle in the dried fruit,pour in the beaten egg and 3 tablespoons of milk.Start to mix the dough with a knife and finish off with your hands it should be soft but not sticky,if dough is dry add tea spoons of milk at a time.
Next Form dough into a ball and turn it out onto a lightly floured working surface and roll out into a round about an inch thick, then cut out the scones with a suitable cutter and then place on a lightly greased baking tray and sprinkle with flour
Bake the scones in the top half of the oven for 10-12 minutes until they are well risen and golden brown, after that remove and serve fresh with butter
