     Tamar Kolleks Kuperferlin (Crescent Cookies)

Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup almonds, ground very fine
dash salt
2 cups flour
 

Instructions
Preheat oven to 250. Cream butter and sugar until well blended. Add almonds and then salt and flour. Use fingers to mix ingredients together.
Roll dough pieces size of plum into balls in palm of hand, then roll each into tube shaped piece about 2 in long. Place each tube on working surface and shape into crescent. Cut tips of crescents with sharp knife and press ends flat.
Place cookies on ungreased baking sheet close together but not touching. Bake for 40 mins until firm to touch. (Cookies should be white in color, not even slightly golden.) Remove from oven. Let stand several minutes and while still warm, sprinkle with additional sugar.
