     Smashed Potatoes

Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs. red skinned potatoes (9 small potatoes)
salt
1/4 cup butter, cut into 3 equal chunks
1/2 cup half and half or milk
pinch of pepper
 

Instructions
Put potatoes in a large saucepan and add water to cover them by at least 1 inch of water. Add 2 Tbsp. salt, set aside pan over high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmmer potatoes until tender 20-25 minutes. Pole potato with point of a small sharp knife. Should go easily into potato.
Drain potatoes and return to saucepan. Add butter and half and half or whole milk, 1/4 tsp. salt and pepper. Smash until only small chunks remain.
