     Orange Scented French Toast

Category   Breakfast - Brunch
Sub Category   None
Servings   4
Preptime   15 min.

Ingredients
1 loaf cinnamon challah bread (any crusty loaf will do)
8 large eggs
2 tablespoons cream or half n half or milk
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier or Triple Sec liqueur
1 teaspoon pure organic vanilla extract
Pinch salt
Unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups pure maple syrup

Fresh orange peel (two 2-3 inch pieces)
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier or Triple Sec liqueur

Instructions
Trim ends off cinnamon loaf using a serrated knife. Cut loaf into 8 one-inch thick slices. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, liqueur, vanilla, and salt. Transfer the egg mixture to a shallow baking dish. Submerge bread slices in egg mixture, coating well on both sides. Cover dish with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Remove custard-soaked bread from the fridge and allow to sit at room temp for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet or griddle on medium. Grease lightly with butter and add bread, 3-4 slices at a time. Cook 2-3 minutes on each side, until toast is golden brown and custard is cooked through. Keep warm in a 250-degree oven.
In a saucepan over low heat add syrup, orange peel and liqueur. Allow flavors to infuse while french toast is cooking. Serve in a gravy boat or creamer for easy pouring.
Serving Suggestions
Garnish with orange segments and serve with fresh strawberries
