     Pam's scallopped potatoes

Ingredients
3-5 lbs. potatoes
2-4 cups milk
2-4 cups water
3 garlic cloves, choped
3/4 tsp. salt and pepper
3 bay leaves
sprinkle with dried onions
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded sharp white cheddar cheese
 

Instructions
Put water, milk, salt, pepper and bay leaves in a large saucepan.
Peel and slice the potatoes and add to pan
Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 4 minutes. Stir occasionally until tender not falling apart.
With a slotted spoon, transfer to a baking dish. Put down 1/2 the potatoes, sprinkle with 1/2 the cheese, 1/2 the heavy cream. Repeat for the second layer this time ending with the cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown- can make a day ahead- reheat for 1/2 an hour at 350 degrees.
