     Vanilla or Chocolate Cream Pie

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups Half and Half
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cornstarch
5 eggs, separated (save whites for meringue)
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
1 Pillsbury folded pie crust
 

Instructions
Roll out pie crust. Fit into pie pan, sealing any cracks, prick with a fork, flute edges and bake according to package directions.
In 8 cup glass measuring bowl combine 1 cup sugar, cornstarch and salt. Mix and then add milk and egg yolks. Whip with wire whisk.
Cook in microwave until thick and bubbly - stir every 30 seconds after the first 2 minutes. Add butter and vanilla (and chocolate square if desired).
Pour into pie shell, top with meringue and cook according to meringue instructions.
