Beat butter at medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour alternately with cream, beginning and ending with flour. Shape into a flat disc; cover; chill 2 hours.
. After chilling, divide the dough into 4ths. If needed let dough stand 2 or 3 minutes until pliable. On a floured surface, roll dough 1/8inch, cut with small cutter. Dip both sides of each cookie in sugar; and place on ungreased baking pan. Prick half of the cookies with a fork. Cut decorative shapes from the centers of remaining cookies (I cut hearts) Bake 375 for 7-9 minutes.
Cool on racks. Combine 1/4 butter, powdered sugar, flavoring mixing well. Add coloring. Spread gently on one cookie, top with decorative cookie.
