     Dutch apple tart

Ingredients
500g plain flour
250g butter/margarine
250g sugar
2 eggs
salt
500g red apples - not too sweet, chopped
500g golden delicious - not too sweet, chopped
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
50g flaked almonds
 
jam / marmalade to spread on base
raisons to taste

Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 180c.
Make pastry by placing flour, butter, sugar, eggs and salt in a bowl. Roll out and press into base and sides. Keep some aside to weave stips across tart.
Spread jam/marmalade on base. In a bowl add vanlla, chopped apples and optional raisons and almonds. Add apple mix to pie.
Roll out remaining pastry and cut into 1.5cm wide stips. Weave across pie. Bake for 30 minutes.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with cream
