Brown the brisket evenly in an iron skillet. Salt and pepper liberally. Put in seeral layers of heavy aluminum foil. Pour liquid smoke, brown sugar, and A-1 sauce over meat. Close foil. Put several cups of water in a Dutch oven, put meat in the foil, and cover with lid. Cook at 350 for 4 to 5 hours or until completely fork tender. Add water if needed.
