     Taco Salad

Category   Salads - Soups - Sidedishes
Sub Category   Quick Meals
Servings   4
Preptime   30 minutes

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (93 percent lean)
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
1 package taco seasoning
1 head of iceberg lettuce, chopped
1 small can of Ranch-Style Beans, drained
1 tomato, diced or halved grape tomatoes
2 cups of grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 small bag of Frito chips, regular size
avocado, chopped (optional)

1/2 bottle (or so) of Catalina or French-style dressing

Instructions
Brown hamburger and onion in fry pan. Add taco seasoning, and cook according to package directions. Set aside.
In a large bowl add lettuce, beans, tomatoes, meat mixture, fritos, cheese, and avocados. Toss with dressing and serve.
This is one recipe that has been changed over the years. Some people melt Rotel-tomatoes with velveeta cheese and use that as the dressing instead of the Catalina, but I prefer the original. I have substituted the chili flavored Fritos and that is quite good.
