Prepare chocolate cake according to directions. Allow to cool. Cut into 4 layers.
Note If you wish to use marzipan roll into thin sheet and place on top of cherries in second layer and on mousse in 3rd layer.

Melt 100g of chocolate with 3 tbsp sherry/kirsch and spread over bottom layer. Now brush 3 tbsp of kirsch onto other layers. After the chocolate has dried on the bottom layer cover with berry / cherry jam.

2nd layer- Cover with cherries from can but don't use all of the sauce as it will run out.
3rd layer- Melt 90g of chocolate with 3 tbsp of kirsch and add 1 well beaten egg. Whip 1 cup of cream with 2 tbsp of sugar. Fold into chocolate. Use chocolate mousse to cover 3rd layer.

Top- Melt together 100g of chocolate with 3 tbsp of kirsch and cover top layer. Allow to dry / cool. Decorate with whipping cream (with kirsch and sugar), maraschino cherries and chocolate flakes.
