Ingredients
4 1/2 c flour
3 T sugar
1 1/2 t salt
1 pkg yeast
1 2/3 c warm water
2T margarine
1T sugar
2t salt
 

Instructions
mix together the unsifted flour, 3 T sugar, 1 1/2 t salt, yeast, water, and butter in the bread machine on manual setting. or mix 1 1/2 c flour, 3T sugar 1 1/2 t salt and yeat. heat water and butter to 120-130 degrees. add water to dry ingredient; beat 2 min at med spped on mixter. add 1/2 c flour, beat at high sppeed 2 min. stire more lfour to make a stiff dough, kead 8-10 min. cdover and let rise. punch down. coer; let rest 15 min. Divde into 12 pices. shape. simmer in 1 in water w/ 1T sugar and 2t salt. cook on med low heat for 3 min. turn and cook 2 min. turn again, cook 1 min. drain on towels. repeat. place on greased cookie sheet. bake at 375 for 20-25 min. before baking, mix 1 egg white and 1T water, brush on bagels, sprinkle w. sesame, poppy or caraway seeds.
