Beat eggs until frothy. Add to 1/2 cup sugar to eggs, beating until dissolved. Add milk, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg to egg mixture.

Add 1/4 cup sugar to mixture to rethicken.
|
|
|
Dip French bread slices one at a time, both sides covered with egg mixture.
|
|
|
Cook in pan with melted butter until brown.
turn and brown other side.
