preheat oven to 350
line 9inch pan with foil- hanging edges over
grease foil
lrg bowl- combine butter and sugar
beat at medium until fluffy
add eggs, one at a time, and combine well
beat in vanilla
sm bowl- combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt
gradually add to butter mixture, beating until combined
spoon batter into pan
bake 20-25 min, or until center is clean
spread frosting over hot cake
