     Apple Bread

Ingredients
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 beaten eggs
1 cup chopped fresh apple
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine or shortening
11/2 tablespoon buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
 
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Sift together dry ingredients. In a mixing bowl, combine eggs and apple. Cream together sugar and margarine or shortening. Add buttermilk and vanilla alternately with dry ingredients, blend well.
Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan. Just before baking sprinkle over the top sugar mixed with cinnamon. Bake in oven for 1 hour or until done. Cool loaf thoroughly.
