Cut top and bottom off to make flat, peal onion, core center, trying
not to go all the way, leaving bottom intact
fill core with chicken soup base (the best) or a chicken or beef
bouillon cube, fill remaining with butter, salt and pepper onions,
wrap in oil brushed tin foil.
Bake in preheated 400oF oven for about an hour, depending on
onion size. Unwrap and place under broiler for a few minutes to
brown, turn onion and brown next side.
Serve with accumulated sauce over onion
