Saute pear & onion in butter over medium heat. Stir constantly until the onions are translucent & pears are tender. Blend pear mixture and pumpkin in a food processor until smooth. Transfer to a large saucepan.
Add broth, water, wine, cinnamon, & salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer for 20 minutes, covered.
Uncover. Remove cinnamon stick. Stir in cream. Heat thoroughly, but do not boil
You can garnish with a dab of sour cream with strips of green onion, or crumble bacon. You can double the recipie and freeze a portion for future delight!
