Zest the lemon (use a fine grater to take the very
outside of the rind [the really yellow part]).
Rub the baking form with butter and spread the
breadcrumbs (just enough to cover the bottom) over it.
Peel apples and cut into 8 pieces.
Set oven to 360F
|
|
|
Cream together the butter and sugar until light
and foamy, then add one tablespoon of flour.
Add 1 egg at a time and mix in before adding
another.
After eggs are incorporated add the lemon zest.
Mix your flour and baking powder. Then mix the
flour into the eggs 1/4 at a time and mix only
until smooth.

|
Take 1/2 the dough and put it into the baking pan,
use oil / lemon juice on your hands so it doesn't
stick as bad when you spread it in the pan.
Put the apples closely together on top of the
dough. This is when you would sprinkle the Grand
Marnier on if you have it.
Put the rest of the dough on top of the apples.
Bake in over 40-45 min (approximately)

Roast your almond slivers on a baking sheet in the
oven (watch them carefully, they burn quickly).
You want them to be light-medium brown.
Warm the jam in the microwave. Spread jam over top
of cake. Then immediately spread the almonds over
the cake.
Let cool then sprinkle with icing sugar.
