Add olive oil to a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and next 8 ingredients. Stir while cooking until meat is lightly browned.
Add tomato paste and tomato sauce along with water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves and chocolate.
Bring to a boil, and then reduce to low and simmer - uncovered 1.5 to 2 hours. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
