Put raisins in water and boil until there is little water left. While hot, add shortening and soda, stir and let cool. Add rest of ingredients. Bake at 350 degres for 20 minutes.
Frost with Confectioner Sugar Frosting- 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 2 tsp. milk, 2 tsp. light corn syrup, 1/4 tsp. vanilla. Stir together confecters' sugar and milk utnil smooth. Beat in corn syrup and vanila until icing is smooth and glossy.
